Sunset Rocketscape & New Camera Test
I'm testing out a new camera setup that, among other things, should allow me to occasionally include footage of my palette in a picture-in-picture window along with footage of the painting.
This little Rocketscape is the first real test, and even though there are clearly some bugs to sort out (lighting on the palette is terrible, position of the palette is sub-optimal, my head is still in the shot, and I managed to loose the last hour or so of footage), there is so much potential!
Some of the issues will be worked out with the move to the new studio space where there will be actual lighting and I'll have more room to position the camera. I think I'll also play around with some sort of palette stand and see how that works out.
Anyway, as long as this painting was part of an experiment anyway, I also decided to work with an open palette (no pre-mixing of colors). That went more smoothly than I thought it would.
Let me know what you think in the comments. Is being able to see my palette during a painting demonstration something you think would be interesting or instructive (assuming it wasn't completely obscured by glare from the lights), or is it just distracting?
