Out of the Box

The 'Young Astronaut' is back from the photographer after some good dry time and a light coat of varnish. The varnish, incidentally, did not disappoint. It brought back some real luster and depth to the blacks and blues, and warmth to the flesh tones. The clients have settled on 'Out of the Box' as the title, which I think fits perfectly. I'll be packing the painting up and shipping it off to its new home on Monday, and I am really going to miss this one. It was an absolute blast to work on, and it turned out to be one of my personal favorites. I love commission work, although it can be surprisingly tricky at times to find the intersection between what a client wants and my vision for the painting. In this case, however, we all seemed to be on the same page and, at least for my part, it was a wonderful experience. So now, without further ado, may I present 'Out of the Box'  30x18 inches, oil on aluminum composite? If you are interested in more information on commissioning a painting, you can find it here.
